Who we are
Friend Keeper is an app made by Kevin Coleman and distributed by Apple for iOS.
What personal data is collected and how it’s used
Data & Media
In short, we probably care more about your privacy than you do. The Friend Keeper app collects data that you enter into it, as well as some anonymized usage and crash data (analytics). Here’s what’s collected and how it’s used. It’s worth noting: the below list is conclusive, and your data will not be used, sold, or otherwise handled for any other reason.
Your account email address | Used for logging you in and for contacting you about account-related issues. No spam, and nothing unsolicited. |
Your account password | This is collected and stored in a secure manner, and is never viewable/accessible, even to the developer. It’s used for logging you in. |
Friend Names | These are the first and/or last names you enter in the app, and they’re used for displaying each friend’s name back to you while you use the app (so you can keep track of people). |
Friend photos | These are photos you upload for display alongside your friends, for the purpose of helping personalize your in-app display of each friend. |
Friend contact frequency | When you add a friend you will be asked how often you want to get in touch with that friend. This is known as the contact frequency and is used for helping notify you and personalize the display of the list of your friends. |
Friend connections | Each time you mark that you’ve either contacted or skipped contacting a friend that information is stored in a history. It’s used for displaying your contact history back to you later, as well as for figuring out when you need to be notified about a given friend. |
Notification settings | In the app you can select to turn on/off badge notifications, banner notifications, or all notifications. These settings are stored for use by the notification server to determine whether or not you’ll receive prompts about connecting with your friends. |
Basic device data | We store (a) very basic identifier(s) for your device(s) so we can coordinate which devices need notifications sent to them. This is a hashed string of letters and numbers, and doesn’t reveal any of your settings or other data stored on your device(s). |
Analytics
Who we share your data with
Your data is shared only with the external providers of services used by and for this app. These are services like login authentication, notification sending, app functionality handling, and persistent data storage. Apple also collects basic data about number of downloads of each app version, but this is all anonymized data. Your data is not shared anywhere external to services chosen by the developer to provide service directly to you.
How long we retain your data
Currently, data is stored indefinitely, for your convenience. Due to the nature of the Friend Keeper app, deleting your data for “garbage collection” purposes (after long periods of time) would damage the experience for you.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on the app you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
